THE BABY SLING! The best thing ever! Baby loves it! Mommy loves it!
A HAPPY MOMMY AND BABY!
We are aware of the latest horrible stories regarding a number of baby slings. It is a tragedy and I feel awful for those mothers. Please note that, as reported in the news, the majority of these babies were preemies, a weaker twin, or had other health issues. That is not to say the rest of us are excluded! However, as in everything else in this world, do not assume these incidents make this wonderful product an "accident waiting to happen", or that it will likely happen to you. I can't begin to tell you how many "Glory Stories" I hear about all styles of baby slings. There is, obviously, more to each story than what we will hear in the media.
We do carry several styles of slings, but encourage the pouch sling for newborn to 3 month infants; assuming you choose to try one. If worn properly, and operated with common sense and attention, this item can be a literal Godsend for many mothers. While we, obviously, cannot know how any person will use this product, we do feel it is safe under these conditions. But that is your decision, of course, and we honor it. Please feel free to discuss this product at length with us. Below we have detailed the proper way to put on, put baby in, and wear our preferred cupped sling.
(Above: Worn properly) Please note how the mother above is carrying her baby in his sling. He is laying in a CRADLE position, ON HIS BACK, his head well below Mom's shoulder, as opposed to the photo at right .(Worn too high) This baby is also on his back, but up TOO high on mommy's shoulder, causing baby to slump forward onto his own chest. In the case of a newborn, a very small infant, or one with health issues, this COULD become a breathing issue.
It is EXTREMELY important that your newborn infant lays in the sling with his chest and face UP, as if in a cradle. DO NOT LAY BABY ON HIS SIDE OR WITH HIS FACE TURNED TOWARD YOUR BODY. Even if you're using the sling for nursing, baby should be on his back and ONLY his face turned toward you.
The "pouch" sling, (with obvious stitched "cupping") which we prefer for tiny ones, is the easiest (and per our customers, the securest) to use. There are simple ways to make sure you're using it correctly.
There is a visible stitching line at the deepest part of the pouch. When you put your sling on, over one shoulder, as shown, this seam should line up directly between your breasts. Holding baby's bottom in your hand, his body cradled on your arm, and head tucked in at your inner elbow, use other hand to hold open sling. Place your hand and arm, with baby, all the way into sling until baby's bottom is centered on seam. The seam will run "hip-to-hip" across baby's rear. Your arm should be inside the sling. Gently rest baby's bottom into sling, at seam, by removing your hand UP baby's back, past his head, (you'll have to schooch your elbow out the back), his back flat along the bottom, and finally his head. His face should be looking upward toward you. MAKE SURE the back edge of sling is pulled up past baby. You should be able to see plenty of it, as in the photos. Once you have baby comfortably positioned, if his head is above your breasts, re-adjust sling (NOT BABY) to the left or right of center, until baby is laying, not propped. Please use our photos as examples.
For some moms, it is easier to spread the sling on the bed, open it up, place baby inside in correct position, and then (leaning over bed, of course) placing over Mom's head and arm. Or putting the sling on and then having a helper place baby into it as you hold it open.
Nothing compares (for you and your new one) to a close snuggle! With this wonderful innovation, you can hold your little one close for napping, nursing, consoling, or just plain enjoyment, and still enjoy some freedom to "multi-task". The sling is a definate help if you are about to add a new baby to your growing brood, especially if you have a toddler in the home already.
When used properly, and with attention, these slings provide security, support, comfort and versatility for everyone. We carry a large selection, in many fabric weights, for all seasons. All are reversible and machine washable. AND...we give you a hands-on lesson in how to use them properly. We do everything possible to assist you in the use and safety of your sling. The rest is up to you.
And last but certainly not least...our slings are about half the price of those found in major baby stores and online.

If you see anything on our site that you would like to purchase, please contact us immediately and we will gladly "yank" it off the rack for you! You may pay thru paypal or credit card info and we will mail to you. Professional wardrobe consultant is always available.
Also available are many "baby" books, including some of the latest, most popular "what to expect" books, at extremely discounted prices!
And every pregnant woman, as well as her husband, should read Jenny McCarthy's book, Belly Laughs. It is hysterical as well as informative. And then follow it up with her book about the first year with her new baby, called, Baby Laughs. They are both great, entertaining, and easy to read books! Beware, if you are clost to term, you may laugh yourself right into labor!
